Trying out the Bote Traveler. Unfortunately thunderstorms shortens the session. Redneck beach is a nice starting point though to paddle to crab island during the weekend when it turns in to a party place with a lot of boats. Otherwise you can paddle along the shore line of Okalosa Island and encounter local wildlife. Reminder though, the parking spot south of the bridge is Air Force property. A permit is required and available through eglin.isportsman.net

Grayton Beach is a coastal community, west of Panama City Florida at the Gulf of Mexico. Western Lake is actually a set of lakes on the east side of Grayton beach and part of Grayton Beach State Park ($5 dollar entry fee). You can access the lake from both the State park, boat ramp or the ramp in Grayton Beach. Last one has limited parking space, especially during high season. From the Grayton Beach boat ramp you can paddle both the lakes and go on the Gulf. The waterway to the gulf can be shallow to dry so hand lifting your board can be necessary. The crabs we've seen are on the shallow water way to the gulf. On the Gulf, with some luck, you can see dolphins, turtles, stingrays and even sharks. During our paddle we only saw turtles and dolphins. Epic spot to paddle both inland as well as on the Gulf.
