Beautiful morning paddle =) Nice to see a few kayakers out on such a nice day too. Went over to the other side of the estuary, did a bit of yoga in the middle since there was almost no wind and practice speeding on my way back. The river was flowing really fast after all that rain from the day before, so strong current and I was going against the tide as well! So great workout overall =)

We have 3 new guides here at Panasurf, all who have started recently. David, John and Cat. What else could we do but have a big team bonding session out on the Lake? And of course we had to make it a long one..

Our plan was to paddle to the other side of Lake Atitlan to a spot named Cerro Oro. There we would chill for a while and enjoy the scenery, then cross the lake again, this time to San Marcos.

We set off a little later than we normally would, feeling energized and ready for a big paddle. We left Panajachel at around 8.30am. The water was calm and the skies were blue. A perfect day for it in conditions we could really relax and enjoy the beautiful mountains in.

Resident doggo Bailey joined us, hopping from board to board as we paddled to our first spot. We arrived in around 1 hour 30 minutes with the conditions being on our side most of the way.

At the end of the first leg, a beautiful garden presented itself to us, marking the perfect location to refuel, do some yoga and have a bit of time to soak up some sunshine. The yoga refocused us, the food refueled us and we were ready to embark on the second leg of the journey.

The wind and the waves started on our side, giving us a nice push toward San Marcos, but not for long. As Lake Atitlan has a tendency to do, the wind turned against us and the water became choppy. This was the perfect test for a group of new guides and an excellent opportunity to show what they could do, whilst getting in a killer workout.

The waves were rolling toward Panajachel, with the wind blowing in the same direction, which would have made for an easy escape route back home. But these guys were made of sterner stuff, tenaciously battling through the winds to set out what we had achieved at the start of the day.

It was a long paddle, but we made it to San Marcos with smiles on our faces to enjoy a nice coffee and some well deserved quesadillas from Posada Schuman. Great food with the perfect view of the volcaoes!!The journey totaled 14 miles and we managed it in 5 hours and 30 minutes for the whole day.

Happy to have done what we set out to and make the big journey. We have ourselves a few sunburnt belly, and sore arms but it was well worth it and we will be back out on the water VERY SOON! We love it!

A beautiful sunny day marked our first tour since the rainy season ended and we had 2 very different groups with us to enjoy the day. First we had Alex and Sarah, who were keen to explore the lake in the best way possible, aboard Panasurfs boards! We also were lucky enough to have with us Marnix and company from the French television show, "The Amazing Race". They are planning on starting their show with a paddle race across Lake Atitlan and we were there to help them figure out the logistics.

We started our paddle from Panajachel at 7am, getting everyone comfortable on the boards, having some fun and telling a few jokes! Everyone was in fine spirits. The french television crew were keen to paddle hard, as an experiment for timings for when tey were going to shoot the show. The show would require couples to ride tandem on one board, and thats what they did. They started strong but tiredness set in just after Santa Caterina, but they continued to paddle and made it to San Antonia after around 2 hours and 40 minutes. This was great news to everyone as they had hoped for around a 3 hour paddle for their show, so were left happy at the route we showed them and keen to get everything organised for the big event in february.

Alex and Sarah were on their vacation so were a little more relaxed in their paddle. We had JC with them as they slowly made their way around the beautiful shore of the lake, taking some time out for swimming, cliff jumping and some awesome photos along the way! Some yoga out on the water brought smiles all round and it was a pleasure to spend the day with a great couple!

A paddle to San Antonio, then a stop on the way in Santa Caterina for lunch marked a great day out on the water for all! Some windy conditions on the way back meant that we had some fun but also got ourselves a great workout and earned ourselves a big feed and a beer when we got back.

Thanks to everyone who helped make the day awesome! Cant wait to get back out onto the water again! Watch this space, we will be seeing you soon Lago Atitlan!
