* Jizera from Malá Skála is great if water level is > 130 cm in Železný Brod. This water level is probably also enough to begin in Podspálov. In Líšný there is never enough water in river bed behind the sluice but you can use the millrun – it is safe. * You can also ride Jizera from Kačovský Mlýn to the confluence with Labe. It has similar difficulty and there is enough water for the whole year. * Another river which has enough water for the whole year and it still moves relatively fast is Ohře between Nechranice and Postoloprty - there is usually very clear water. * After some rain (if > 65 - 75 cm in Karlovy Vary) you can ride Ohře between Královské Poříčí and Karlovy Vary and between Vary and Vojkovice. It is slightly harder and more technical then Jizera from Malá Skála (ZWC – WW1) and it is situated in very nice nature. * Berounka behind Černošice has few rapids and it is a whole year spot (optimum is if > 20 m3/s in Beroun). * The best fast, but still safe, river is Sázava between Krhanice and Pikovice / Davle. You can ride it after very heavy rains or in spring / late winter. You need more then 15 - 20 m3/s in Nespeky, optimum is 30 m3/s. It is WW2 – WW1. Helmet and vest is highly recommended. * You can also train in Paraplíčko rapid on Jizera (easy, almost whole year, nice nature), rapids behind sluice in Benátky nad Jizerou (easy, whole year) and in Brandýs canal (difficult, whole year).
Ahoj Lukasi, thank you very much for your extensive list and tips! It is great. I was thinking about next trip on Sazava – if there will be enough water or Berounka. Paraplicko sounds great as well. Definitely will go – the only issue on my side is the time. The other thing I will need to solve is the fin, I have non-flexible fin in the us-box and had to remove it for Jizera (due to low water passages) and then the paddling got new level of difficulty (from 3 full strokes on one side to one). Thank you again for all the info – maybe we meet somewhere on the river ;-) Best regards Lukas
